MELBOURNE, Australia (CP) - Achraf Tadili narrowly claimed silver in the men's 800 metres at the Commonwealth Games. Tadili posted a time of one minute 46.93 in the 800, outleaning John Litei Nkamasiai at the line to beat the Kenyan by just five hundredths of a second. "The last metre I'm hungry. I'm more hungry than him maybe so," said Tadili, from Montreal.
Both were over a second behind the 1:45.88 posted by winner Alex Kipchirchir Rono of Kenya. The 25-year-old Tadili made a gutsy move with 400 metres to go. Sitting in sixth through the first lap, he took the lead in the span of a few strides at the bell, and held on until the gold medallist passed him with 100 metres to go.
