800m Luzerne Switzerland
Kris Mychasiw
June 9, 2004

Today, Achraf ran in Luzerne Switzerland where he was set to face André Bucher. After looking over the start list it was apparent that Bucher would not be racing. Achraf ran directly behind the rabbit as he was sensing the pace was slow. They went through the first 200 metres in just under 25 seconds. Achraf was not ready for a slower pace as he was hoping he would have a shot at the Canadian record. After splitting the opening quarter in 52 seconds, he had enough. At 500 metres, Achraf pulled away from the rabbit bringing a few others with him. "The dog" put another bite into his competition by opening up into another gear winning his second race in 1:46.30. A time that has now officially qualified him for the Olympics as the time was he B standard. He now sets forth for Kassel, Germany where he hopes to continue his winning ways before heading back to Montreal to prepare for the Harry Jerome Invitational.
