China strides on to scene for first time at Victoria International Track Classic

The Victoria International Track Classic on June 11th will host the National track and field team from the People's Republic of China for the first time ever in the history of the meet.

The Chinese contingent of two dozen will boost the list of international rivals already confirmed from other countries such as U.S.A, Mexico, Great Britain and Kenya.

The twilight evening event, with a $30,000 prize purse, will feature a showdown of rivalries including Achraf Tadili, 2006 Commonwealth Games silver medalist, Canadian Olympian Kevin Sullivan, and China’s Li Xiangyu in the men’s 800 meters, and Canadian record holder Diane Cummins set to be challenged by American Alice Schmidt, and China’s young twenty-year-old distance star, Liu Qing in the women’s 800 meter race.
