Tadili on track for huge success

If it wasn't for an over-zealous guard dog in his birth-place Casablanca, Achraf Tadili might be pursuing a berth in the 2010 South Africa World Cup with Team Canada in soccer. Instead, he'll be on the track for Team Canada at Olympic Stadium in Beijing in 2008.

When the teenage Tadili, a swift 17-year-old standout striker in soccer at the time, out-ran a security dog after wandering into a wrong yard, his astonished uncle registered him in a local track club the next day.

Fast forward eight years later to the massive Melbourne Cricket Ground this March, where Tadili scored a breakthrough silver medal in the 800 metres for his adopted Canada before a howling cauldron of 80,000 fans at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Read Full Story
