Tadili wins silver in 800

Melbourne, Australia — Achraf Tadili won silver and got down on his hands and knees and thanked God. Tadili narrowly finished second in the 800 metres at the Commonwealth Games. Tadili ran the 800 in one minute 46.93 seconds, outleaning John Litei Nkamasiai at the line to beat the Kenyan by just five hundredths of a second. "The last metre I'm hungry. I'm more hungry than him maybe so," said Tadili, from Montreal. Both were more than a second behind the 1:45.88 posted by winner Alex Kipchirchir Rono of Kenya.

Tadili, 25, made a gutsy move with 400 metres to go. Sitting in sixth through the first lap, he took the lead in the span of a few strides at the bell, and ran in front until he was passed with 100 metres to go.
